Acne is not just a skin condition. Whether you are facing breakouts or battling persistent acne, the impact on your self-esteem and mental well-being is undeniable. It not only poses immediate challenges, both physically and psychologically, but can also leave a lasting mark, with acne scarring being a very difficult issue to treat.
At The Minster Clinic we acknowledge the emotional impact of acne. We foster a culture of empathy and understanding. The foundation of an optimised treatment plan lies in a thorough consultation with a skilled doctor. We can assess the severity of acne, identify contributing factors, and recommend a personalised strategy. Your skin routine can be addressed in partnership with our therapist. Topical treatments like retinoids or benzoyl peroxide may be needed to address surface-level concerns. Oral medications, including antibiotics, spironolactone or hormonal therapies can target other biological factors contributing to and exacerbating acne.
For persistent or severe cases, combination treatments with light-based modalities (Laser and/or LED) and chemical treatments can be utilised to optimise response and to yield the best results. Understanding the rationale behind each step encourages compliance and better outcomes.
We do not provide oral retinoids (Roaccutane) at The Minster Clinic. However, we are the first clinic in the north of England to introduce the revolutionary AviClear laser that achieves results that are comparable to Roaccutane, without toxic side effects or the need for blood monitoring. The treatment is provided in 3 simple clinic visits with little downtime and can be a potent treatment tool for individuals with any skin type.
