How are varicose veins removed? 

Varicose veins can be removed in a variety of ways.  Your initial £195 consultation will allow our resident vascular surgeon, Mr Sridhar, to conduct a comprehensive examination as well as perform an ultrasound of the venous vasculature to identify the source of the problem.

Smaller veins requiring sclerotherapy can often be treated the same day.

Endovenous Laser Ablation (EVLA) uses laser treatment under local anaesthetic to destroy the internal walls of the vein, which is then reabsorbed by the body. This is considered the gold standard of varicose vein treatment and has replaced traditional surgical techniques in most cases.

Clarivein® is a newer, minimally invasive, procedure that uses a revolutionary catheter tip in conjunction with a chemical sclerosant to destroy the vein.

Glue can also be used to treat varicose veins. VenaBlock® is a medical adhesive system that is used in The Minster clinic  under ultrasound guidance and injected into the problem vein, sealing it shut and causing it to harden, heal and be absorbed into the body with no risk of skin burns or nerve damage. 

Most people can resume normal activities within one or two days of their treatment, with visible results within two to six weeks.
